I have been working on rental property and I have not been able to post for over a month, but I took a weekend and did a project in my own back yard, that I actually found on Pinterest. The hard part was finding a large enough tire, and I have a very close friend that runs heavy equipment that I mentioned I needed, and he showed up one day with my tire. First off, figure out where you want your pond. Measure your space. There is no moving this size tire. You have to use such a large tire. Next, shovel your hole. My daddy used to have a water garden nursery, and he would tell clients to use a sack of flour to mark their spot for their pond, because it will not hurt your ground, and you can tell where you need to dig. Lay your tire, and sprinkle flour around it where you want it if you have never done this before.

Start digging. Measure your tire to see how far you have to go. Mine was 2 feet. So I went another half to work with. Then level your dirt on the bottom. VERY IMPORTANT!!!

I seen on pinterest that they are laying plastic to hold water. BAD IDEA. This will disintegrate very soon in the sun. It starts breaking down. I used 2 bags of quickcrete.   Smooth it out on the bottom so your pump will set level.
I chose natural Arkansas rock to place around mine. You could place block, brick, etc. Whatever you chose.  I bought a pump at Home Depot, and to make sure and seal the pond good, buy a can of 10.00 Leak Seal Tar Spray, and spray all around inside the tire, to assure that it does not leak.
Now you have a beautiful pond to enjoy!!!!!!

Barn Wood
Sewing
Table

I told my husband that I was so upset how my sewing table was not big enough. Being the gentleman that he is, and wanting to please me, he went to work in the shop.

He used his favorite barn wood that he likes to make his cabinets out of, and used his legs that he had set aside to make a certain table.

The things that they do for us!!!! Looks great doesn't it? And to top it off, he said he liked it himself and has material to make an extra one for our booths!!!

I found out just this week that I am going to be spending all my time at home, and will never be able to go back to work do to some health issues. Kind of depressing. But my grandma taught me some things when I was only about 10 or 11 years old, that I LOVE doing. Sewing, baking, canning. I think I will put it to good use. I started making some things this week, and it made me realize how much fun it is. People need to stop, and take time to get back to real life and enjoy it. Have a blessed and wonderful day and evening.

I have been so busy working on our new tables, that I haven't taken time to talk to my blog. I am loving these farm tables. I put the first one in my home, then I took it out, and put the 3rd one in. I think they would be great on a large porch also.

One of my bedrooms I could not figure out a way to put the remotes or a lamp by the bed, because the room is so small, and I do not have another nightstand. I remembered that I had all of these OLD crates sitting around, but I didn't like how low it was on the floor. I stationed it to the wall. It worked great! Now I have tons of old cans, tins, bottles, etc. and I am going to work on making an arrangement of some type to go beneath it, so that it doesn't look so empty.

We have had nothing but cold, rainy days, so I have spent the time working on my own home. I hung a new shelf, and added some new pieces I had from our family. Our walls are so full, I am now hanging things from our tin ceiling!! I had a friend over after church Sunday and she said it looked like Cracker Barrel. I don't know if that is a compliment or not. I think that they are so full of junk, you can't see it all!!   Oh well, I love antiques!!!!!!!!

I have shown how I LOVE sharing my projects with my blog. Well, here is my latest one, and I love it so much, I have started another one just like it!! A farm table!!
It started very simple, and I was going to just stain it, and I was so displeased. I stained the top pecan, and the legs, red mahogany.
So, I painted the mahogany, and sanded over different parts of it to bring out the stain, to give a rough, aged look. I polyed the top with 3 coats to seal it.

I painted 4 different chairs, and added this give color. FINISHED!! I had a lot of fun with this project, and it is so easy. Just make sure and seal your work.

Is is summer time yet???? I am screaming to get out, and work on some beautiful items!! Every time I have a day planned, it rains or it is to cold! I did get a few things finished inside, so I wanted to share.

My Kitchen wall is now covered in antique cookie cutters, antique tins, and antique cooking utensils.   Hope no one needs to borrow anything.
I had several postcards from my parents honeymoon, so I made a post card fan. And my dad, back in the 80's made some cedar domino's, and my mom's 1930's jewelry box. My husband made a barn wood shelf for me. Feel sorry for you if you sleep here and it falls.
This is the up thing! Laser pics on wood, rocks, glass, t-shirts, etc. They charge a huge amount, and it is so easy!!!!!! Just make sure you don't copy  your pic backward.

You know, I thought that I was doing really good, and going to post for you all the wonderful things that I have made here in the last 2 days and bought today when I went flea marketing. Little did I know, I got on my blog, and noticed, I never posted a pic for you of the finished project "doggie bed"!  I do apologize for this. I will take a picture of it first thing tomorrow, and put it in the column next to us here. Let me share with you some great photos that are what I consider some never pass ups at flea markets when you are out  and around.

Well, as usual, I have been so busy doing projects, and preparing for new things that I haven't taken time to post new items. But I thought that I would take time from a busy schedule this evening to show you one of my favorites.
This is a doggie bed made from a dining chair that I picked up at the goodwill for $5.00. I actually picked up 3 of them. As you can see, Cut the front legs off, and turn them upside down.

I ordered the cushions on ebay for the inlay. Now, it is ready to paint. I will post finished product tomorrow.

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Guess what!! It is finished, folks!!! Yes, I am excited. Now, if you are going to make one of these, I recommend a large work area, and about 3 days that has nothing else involved. But in the long run, it was SO well worth it I must say.

Stripping old windows is the hardest.
I found out using old windows, so you won't kill your birds, use water base paint. Exterior, glossy sheen. Plus gloss is easier to clean up after them.
I have a daughter who is 18, that is like having a 5 year old around. She didn't hardly let the paint dry, and she wanted birds. So, we went to PetsMart. We now own Lennie and Squikie.

Antique windows can sometimes come in such large sizes, and mine are..so we cut them down, and made 21"x16"x32". As you can see the 16 is the depth. You can do this to your own specification for your area. The tray inside that pulls out, is from a kitchen store. Paid 11.00. Good luck.

Well, this bird cage out of antique windows takes a little longer than what I expected. But we now have it all framed in, tray in it, and ready for painting. Then we will be cutting wire for placement. I have already cut my cedar branch, and have it drying outside, that will be placed inside for the birds to perch on. More to come soon.

Saturday, January 19, 2013

I have been working on several projects, and can't wait to show them to you. But I thought that I would post these few window ideas on here for the time being. These are some quick, easy projects that can be done at home in a day. And very inexpensive.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Well, I had such a busy day yesterday, that I did not even feel like posting last night. I was too pooped! I took a shower, and sat and watched my NCIS dvd's. But I have got to show you today what I accomplished yesterday! Yes, my back hurts, but it was well worth it.
First, I started the day making doggie beds from cola crates because I have so many crates that they are covering a whole wall in my storage room.
Then I went to my craft room and completed an apron that I started 2 or 3 weeks ago, and never finished. I love the colors on this one.

I ended my night at 8pm with the best piece of all. This is a english tea buffet that I picked up from an antique dealer last year that was going out of business. Someone had put 50 coats of paint on her. So it was easier to just do it in chalk paint and be done with it. (6 hours later). But it was a good day.

I finished doors not about a month ago for a lady that wanted them for her daughter for a vintage wedding. Now I need some for my booths in the store. Guess I will be working on this today. Since it's 20 degree outdoor, guess I will be doing it watching Andy Griffith. Thank the Lord again for Stained Concrete floors that are easy to clean if you splash.
